The Compass is Jeep's compact SUV for Europe, built on the FCA Small Wide platform alongside the Renegade and Fiat 500X at the Melfi plant in Italy. The 1.3 GSE T4 MultiAir replaced the older 1.4 MultiAir from the 2020/2021 facelift, producing 130 hp with a 6-speed manual or 150 hp with the 6-speed DDCT dual-clutch automatic, both front-wheel drive. A separate 4xe PHEV version also uses this engine block.· more· less

Common Problems
Average reliability, DDCT automatic is the biggest concern
The Jeep Compass 1.3 T4 has a mixed reliability record. The GSE-T4 engine itself is reasonably robust when maintained correctly with the right oil and regular service intervals. However, the MultiAir III system adds complexity not found in simpler competitors, and the DDCT dual-clutch automatic gearbox is the single biggest ownership cost risk due to premature clutch wear in city driving. The Uconnect infotainment is a common annoyance on virtually all examples. Manual gearbox models (130 hp) are significantly more reliable than DDCT automatics. With correct oil, adherence to service intervals, and a manual gearbox, the Compass can deliver acceptable reliability for this class.
