Common Problems
Mechanically simple and cheap to fix, but corrosion is the main enemy
The D4F engine is one of Renault's most proven units and can comfortably exceed 250,000 km with basic maintenance. There are no expensive catastrophic failure modes to worry about. The main ownership costs come from corrosion-related repairs (exhaust, body) and normal wear items (suspension, CV boots). Parts are among the cheapest of any car sold in Europe. Budget for an exhaust replacement at some point during ownership, keep an eye on body rust, and this is about as cheap as motoring gets.
