2018-2024 · 1.5 Blue dCi (110-115 hp) K9K turbocharged diesel with SCR

The most affordable compact SUV in Europe with a proven Renault diesel engine. The Duster Mk2 with the 1.5 Blue dCi uses the well-known K9K engine, now enhanced with an SCR catalytic converter for Euro 6 compliance. Over 10 million K9K units have been produced, and the engine is fundamentally robust. Budget pricing means some interior and electrical compromises, but parts and servicing are among the cheapest in the segment.

Common Problems
Proven engine, but diesel emissions systems add complexity
The K9K 1.5 dCi is one of the most produced and proven diesel engines globally, with many examples exceeding 250,000 km. The Blue dCi variant adds SCR technology for cleaner emissions, but this introduces AdBlue-related failure points not present in the older dCi. DPF clogging is the most likely issue for owners who primarily drive short trips. Electrical niggles are common but usually minor and inexpensive. Choose a 2020+ model for fewer electrical issues, verify the AdBlue pump recall status, and ensure the car has been regularly driven on highways.

Warranty Status
Factory warranty (3 years / 100,000 km) Expired on 2018-2022 models, may still apply to 2023-2024
Corrosion warranty (6 years) May still apply to 2020+ models
Extended warranty Available through Dacia dealers, typically 1-2 years additional
Dacia provides a 3-year / 100,000 km factory warranty, which is above average for a budget brand. Most used Mk2 Dusters from 2018-2021 will be outside warranty. Shock absorbers are classified as wear items and covered only up to 30,000 km regardless of warranty status.
