The range-topping performance variant of the Lotus Eletre, built in Wuhan on Geely's EPA platform. The R adds a more powerful rear motor for 905 hp, 23-inch forged wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires, 10-piston front brake calipers, and an exclusive Track Mode. It shares the same 112 kWh CATL Qilin battery, 800V architecture, air suspension, and infotainment system as the standard Eletre and Eletre S. With a new MSRP of around €150,000 and significant depreciation already observed, used examples represent a substantial outlay for what remains a first-generation product from a manufacturer still building its EV service infrastructure.· more· less

Common Problems
First-generation platform with typical early-adopter issues
The Lotus Eletre R is a capable performance EV SUV, but as a first-generation product from a manufacturer still building its EV service infrastructure, early ownership has been inconsistent. Software stability and 12V battery drain are the most frequently reported problems, while the limited dealer network (approximately 15 service centres in the UK, with similarly sparse coverage across continental Europe) can mean weeks of waiting for diagnosis and parts. The 5-year / 150,000 km warranty and 8-year battery warranty provide good protection, but buyers should verify all precautionary motor work has been completed and confirm dealer accessibility before purchasing. Later production cars (mid-2024 onwards) appear more stable. The R-specific costs over the base Eletre are primarily limited to the larger 23-inch tires, which are more expensive to replace.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Precautionary electric motor inspection and repair (late 2024, specific batch) Verify with VIN
Brake fluid moisture contamination during manufacturing (early production, under 500 units) Verify completed
The Lotus Eletre R is a relatively new model with limited formal recall history in European databases. Contact Lotus directly with the VIN to verify whether any service campaigns or precautionary repairs apply to the specific vehicle. The motor batch repair is particularly important to confirm.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (5 years / 150,000 km) Check remaining coverage by delivery date
High-voltage battery and drive system (8 years / 200,000 km) 70% state of health guarantee
Paint warranty (5 years / unlimited km) Check remaining coverage
Corrosion perforation warranty (12 years) Active on all current Eletres
Roadside assistance (5 years) European-wide coverage from delivery date
The Lotus Eletre R benefits from a comprehensive 5-year / 150,000 km warranty, which is significantly longer than most European competitors (BMW, Mercedes, Porsche all offer only 2 years). The earliest Eletre Rs (delivered from late 2023) will approach warranty expiry around late 2028. The 8-year / 200,000 km battery warranty with 70% state of health guarantee provides long-term protection on the most expensive component.
