The ICCU is the central power converter that manages charging between the high-voltage battery and the 12V system. When it fails, the 12V battery drains, triggering warning lights, screen blackouts, and eventual loss of drive power. This is a shared E-GMP platform issue affecting the Ioniq 5, EV6, and GV60 alike. Hyundai issued multiple recalls (24V-204 and expanded 24V-868) covering 2022-2024 models after the initial firmware-only fix proved insufficient. The extended recall now includes ICCU hardware replacement. In South Korea, Hyundai has extended the ICCU warranty to 15 years / 400,000 km. European coverage depends on market. Out of warranty, a new ICCU unit runs roughly €3,500-4,500 including labor. Third-party repair services are emerging as alternatives at around €800-1,500. Verify recall completion before purchase.

Multiple GV60 owners have reported complete or intermittent loss of cabin heat during winter. The GV60 uses a heat pump system that is more efficient than a resistive heater but has more components that can fail. Symptoms range from lukewarm air to no heat at all. Diagnosis can be difficult because the problem comes and goes. Repairs may involve replacing the heat pump compressor, HVAC module, or refrigerant recharge. Parts backordering has been an issue, extending repair timelines. The repair can require partial dashboard removal on some configurations, driving up labor costs. Cost ranges from roughly €500 for a simple refrigerant recharge and software update to €2,500 for a full compressor replacement.

The GV60 has a relatively high parasitic draw on its 12V battery. If left undriven for 7-14 days, the 12V battery can deplete, leaving the car unable to start, unlock, or respond to the key fob. This is distinct from the ICCU failure, which affects charging of the 12V battery while driving. The standalone drain issue is related to the many modules that remain active in standby mode. Cold weather accelerates the problem. A replacement 12V battery costs roughly €200-350, though the underlying drain is a software management issue. Keeping the car plugged in or driving it at least once a week helps prevent this. A firmware update addressing power management has been rolled out on some models.

A software bug related to the HD radio memory management can cause the instrument cluster to go black, leaving the driver without speedometer, range, and warning light information. The center infotainment screen can also freeze or reboot during use, particularly during Apple CarPlay or Android Auto sessions. Genesis issued a recall for 2023-2025 models covering this issue, with a fix available via OTA update or dealer visit. If the display controller module itself is defective (rare), hardware replacement costs around €800-1,200. In most cases, a software update resolves the problem at no cost.

Some GV60 owners report knocking or clunking sounds from the front suspension, particularly when driving over uneven surfaces. The EV's heavy battery pack (approximately 2,000 kg curb weight for the AWD) puts additional stress on suspension components. The adaptive dampers on higher-spec models can also develop issues. Typical causes include worn control arm bushings, strut mount bearings, or anti-roll bar links. Individual bushing or link replacement runs €400-600 at a specialist. If the electronically controlled dampers need replacement, costs climb to €800-1,200 per unit.

A manufacturing defect in the adhesive application process meant that the stainless steel molding at the top of the windshield can loosen and potentially detach at highway speeds. Approximately 7,855 units in the US were recalled (2023-2025 models). Wind noise or a whistling sound from the windshield area is the first warning sign. The recall covers free replacement by a dealer. If the car is outside recall scope, aftermarket repair with proper adhesive runs roughly €200-400.
