Common Problems
Proven EV hardware, but software maturity is still catching up
The Electrified G80 benefits from the Hyundai-Kia E-GMP platform, which has proven mechanically robust across hundreds of thousands of Ioniq 5, EV6, and Ioniq 6 units. No widespread motor, inverter, or battery pack failures have emerged. The main ownership risks center on software: display freezes, 12V battery management, and ICCU reliability. These are addressed through recalls and software updates, but the frequency of such recalls indicates the software side is still maturing. The limited Genesis dealer network in Europe means repairs may take longer than with established German brands.
