When the drainage channels become blocked with leaves and debris, rainwater collects and floods the ECUs and their wiring harnesses. Pre-2007 cars are particularly vulnerable as the centre scuttle drain design was revised in later production. A water-damaged ECU cannot simply be swapped; it requires specialist cloning of the immobilizer data onto a replacement unit. If the water damage has spread to the wiring loom in the footwell area, the repair can escalate to €10,000-15,000. The Continental GT uses air suspension on all four corners with Continuous Damping Control. The problem is that most of the vacuum hose harness runs through areas that are inaccessible without removing the engine or, at minimum, the steering rack (2006+ models). Bentley does not sell the wastegate actuator separately; the entire turbocharger assembly must be replaced. Engine removal is required for turbo access. A complete set of 12 coils costs €300-500. However, accessing the coils requires removal of intake manifold sections, which involves significant labor. The Continental GT's frameless coupe doors require the windows to lower approximately 10mm when the door opens and raise again when it closes, creating a good seal against the thick rubber perimeter sealing. This constant micro-adjustment subjects the window regulators and motors to heavy wear. Failure produces a distinctive hissing sound. Each window has an integrated motor/ECU assembly. OEM replacement costs €600-1,000 per window from Bentley. Specialist rebuild services can refurbish the original unit for €300-500. Some owners have successfully used VW Phaeton window regulator repair kits at much lower cost, though success varies. Budget for at least one window repair over 10 years of ownership.

The Continental GT contains roughly 30 electronic control modules governing everything from the engine to the seats. As the car ages, wiring insulation becomes brittle from heat cycling and humidity, connectors corrode, and sensors drift out of specification. Common symptoms include spurious dashboard warnings (particularly tire pressure, parking sensors, and engine management), intermittent electrical glitches, and phantom warning lights.
