Multiple owners report the XPeng G6's adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping systems causing unexpected hard braking on highways, particularly when passing large vehicles, entering tunnels, or encountering strong backlighting. The system has also been reported to resist manual lane changes while cruise control is active. XPeng has addressed some of these issues through the XOS 5.6 OTA update, which significantly reduced unexpected deceleration events. However, the underlying sensor setup remains a concern: in late 2025, XPeng faced backlash after it emerged that some G6 units had their front corner millimetre-wave radars removed without customer notification, downgrading from five to three radars as part of a switch to a pure vision system. At least 159 owners signed a joint complaint letter. The cost is typically zero (software update fixes it) but if a sensor or camera module needs replacement after damage, expect €400-800 for parts and recalibration.

Build quality, while generally acceptable, does not match European competitors. Several owners report developing rattles from the B-pillars and rear passenger doors within the first year. One Australian owner documented six different rattles within seven months. Multiple XPeng owner groups on Facebook have threads dedicated to fixing creaking noises from doors and B-pillars. These are typically trim clip and seal issues that can be resolved by a dealer or with DIY foam tape at minimal cost, but they recur. The 2025 facelift addressed some of these with improved interior materials and tighter assembly tolerances.

Like most modern EVs, the XPeng G6 draws standby current from its 12V auxiliary battery for various systems. Owner reports indicate the 12V battery can deplete within 1-2 weeks if the car is left parked without being plugged in, particularly with sentry mode or connected features active. XPeng owner groups have reported 12V battery warning messages and some owners have needed early replacement. The 12V battery is a standard component costing €150-350 depending on whether it is a standard AGM or lithium replacement. Keeping the car plugged in when parked for extended periods prevents the issue.

Owners have reported various software quirks including laggy 360-degree camera display in underground car parks, climate control buttons on the steering wheel requiring multiple presses, rain-sensing wipers operating incorrectly (wiping in sunshine, not in rain), and the mandatory low-speed pedestrian warning sound that cannot be fully disabled. Some owners report that OTA software updates occasionally introduce new bugs or temporarily affect charging behaviour. XPeng has been actively pushing updates (XOS 5.4, 5.6, 5.8.7) that address many of these issues, but early adopters report a pattern of fixes followed by new quirks. Most issues are resolved via OTA at no cost. Physical infotainment hardware replacement, if needed, would be €200-300 at a service partner.

The 800V architecture with SiC inverter delivers excellent peak charging speeds (up to 451 kW on the updated model), but some owners report charging speed drops significantly when the battery is warm from driving or when ambient temperatures are high. In hot weather, the car may refuse fast charging entirely until the battery cools, which can take 30-45 minutes. This is a thermal protection feature rather than a defect, but it can be frustrating during summer road trips. The LFP battery chemistry used in the Performance variant handles thermal cycling well long-term, but the thermal management system relies on proper coolant levels and a functioning heat pump. A coolant system repair, if ever needed, would cost €300-500.

XPeng's European service infrastructure is still maturing. While the company operates a spare parts hub at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands and has partnered with Euromaster and Speedy for routine service, more complex repairs may require parts to be shipped from China. Body panels, ADAS sensors, and specialised electronic components have longer lead times than established European brands. Some owners report waiting several weeks for non-critical parts. This does not add direct repair cost but can result in extended periods without the vehicle. For accident repairs involving body panels or sensors, the limited parts supply can significantly extend repair timelines. Insurance companies may also charge higher premiums due to uncertain parts costs.
