The entry-level Polestar 2, built on Volvo's CMA platform with the smallest available battery. Common Problems
Mostly software issues; mechanically reliable for an EV
The Polestar 2 Standard Range is a generally reliable electric car where most reported problems are software or connectivity related and have been addressed through over-the-air updates. Battery health data is encouraging, with typical degradation of only 5-8% at 80,000 km. The main mechanical concern is front strut mount noise, resolved with a redesigned part from 2024. The Standard Range avoids the rear driveshaft clicking that affects Dual Motor variants. The 8-year high-voltage warranty covers the most expensive potential failures. A smaller Polestar dealer network compared to established brands can mean longer wait times for parts.
