McLaren's first series-production hybrid supercar, built on the new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) with a compact 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 and an axial-flux electric motor integrated into the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The Artura replaced the Sports Series lineup and introduced a new platform, new engine, and new hybrid technology all at once. Production began in 2022 and it continues to be built today with incremental updates, including a power bump to 690 hp from 2025 onwards.· more· less

Common Problems
First-generation hybrid platform with improving but still evolving reliability
The Artura introduced a new engine, new gearbox, new platform, and new hybrid system simultaneously, which is reflected in the number of recalls and software updates it has required since launch. Early 2022-2023 cars had the most issues, particularly software-related hybrid system faults. McLaren has addressed many of these through over-the-air and dealer-applied updates, and the 2025 model year is reported to be significantly more refined. The 5-year warranty provides meaningful protection, and the M630 V6 engine itself has not shown fundamental mechanical weaknesses. However, the hybrid-specific systems (HV battery management, 12V charging, connector reliability) and McLaren-specific items (hydraulic suspension, dihedral doors) require attentive ownership and access to a McLaren dealer.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
High-pressure fuel pipe nuts loosening, fire risk (Oct 2021 - Nov 2022 production) Critical - verify completed
Low-pressure fuel pipe assembly detachment, fire risk (2023-2024 production) Critical - verify completed
High-voltage battery connector overheating, fire risk (Mar 2023 - Nov 2024 production) Critical - verify completed
Battery moisture ingress, fire risk (2023 production) Verify completed
Brake line cross-connection affecting ABS/ESP (Apr 2019 - Jul 2024 production, multi-model) Critical - verify completed
The Artura has been subject to several safety-critical recalls in its short production life. Contact McLaren with the VIN to verify every recall has been completed before purchasing. The fuel pipe and HV battery connector recalls are particularly important as they involve fire risk.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (5 years / 75,000 km) Active on most used Arturas (production began 2022)
HV battery warranty (6 years / 75,000 km) Covers battery to 70% state of health
Body anti-perforation warranty (10 years) Carbon fibre monocell, unlimited mileage
Free service plan (3 years, Europe) Covers scheduled servicing, excludes wear items
The Artura comes with one of the most comprehensive warranty packages in the supercar segment. Most used examples will still have factory warranty remaining. The 5-year vehicle warranty and 6-year HV battery warranty significantly reduce financial risk for second-hand buyers. Verify remaining warranty coverage with McLaren before purchase.
