Common Problems
Excellent reliability for a hybrid SUV
The NX 300h is one of the most reliable compact luxury SUVs available. The 2AR-FXE hybrid powertrain uses proven Prius-derived technology with over 20 years of refinement. The eCVT has no belts, clutches, or torque converter to wear out. The engine uses a timing chain (no belt replacement needed) and runs at lower loads than conventional engines thanks to electric assist. Regenerative braking significantly extends brake pad life. Most issues are minor (12V battery drain, trim rattles, infotainment lag) and inexpensive to address. The oil consumption risk exists but is manageable with appropriate oil change intervals. In the What Car? reliability survey, just 2% of owners reported any issues, and all were resolved in a day at no cost.
