The facelifted Gallardo LP560-4 represents the most refined version of Lamborghini's best-selling supercar. Powered by the Audi-derived 5.2-litre V10 producing 552 hp through a permanent all-wheel-drive system, the LP560-4 addressed many of the earlier Gallardo's teething problems. The engine is shared with the Audi R8 V10, giving it a fundamentally robust base, while the LP-generation E-gear system received substantial improvements over earlier versions.· more· less

Buy if: You want an iconic V10 supercar with Audi mechanical underpinnings and can budget for specialist maintenance and potential E-gear costs.
Avoid if: You cannot absorb surprise repair bills exceeding €5,000 or plan to use the car frequently in stop-and-go traffic (E-gear clutch wear).

Common Problems
Reliable V10 engine, but E-gear system drives ownership costs
The Gallardo LP560-4's 5.2 V10 engine is fundamentally robust and can exceed 150,000 km with proper maintenance. The main cost driver is the E-gear transmission system, where clutch wear, pump failures, and actuator issues account for the majority of unexpected expenses. Manual gearbox cars avoid most of these costs but are significantly rarer and more expensive to purchase. Beyond the E-gear, the car shares many components with the Audi R8, which helps with parts availability and independent specialist options. Regular use and avoiding prolonged storage actually helps reliability.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
ECU software fault suppressing warning lights (2011-2014 production, ~1,152 vehicles) Critical - verify completed
Brake rotor attaching screw corrosion (2007-2009 models, 263 vehicles) Verify if applicable
Power steering fluid leak and fire risk (2004-2006 models) Not applicable
Contact Lamborghini with the VIN to verify all applicable recalls have been completed. The 2018 ECU software recall is particularly important for 2011-2013 LP560-4 cars, as it prevents proper warning light operation. Earlier recalls (brake screw, power steering) apply only to pre-LP models but verify with VIN to be certain.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (3 years / unlimited km) Expired on all LP560-4 cars
Extended warranty availability Limited availability through specialist brokers
Rust perforation warranty Aluminium body, corrosion warranty expired
All Gallardo LP560-4 models are well outside their original 3-year factory warranty. Extended warranty options exist through specialist exotic car warranty providers but are expensive (typically €3,000-5,000 per year) and often exclude pre-existing conditions and wear items like E-gear clutches. Given the car's age, a pre-purchase inspection fund is more practical than an extended warranty.
