Chery's premium sub-brand enters Europe with a stylish compact SUV that undercuts established rivals on price while offering a generous 7-year warranty and strong EV range of around 90 km (WLTP). The Super Hybrid System (SHS) pairs a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with a 150 kW electric motor through a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), producing a combined 347 hp. Euro NCAP rated it 5 stars in 2025. As a first-generation product from a brand new to Europe, the dealer network is still developing and long-term reliability data is limited.· more· less

Common Problems
First-generation product with software teething issues, but strong warranty coverage
The Jaecoo 7 SHS PHEV uses a first-generation hybrid powertrain from Chery on a new platform with new software. The documented issues so far are predominantly software-related (infotainment, ADAS calibration, headlight sensors) rather than fundamental mechanical failures. The LFP battery chemistry is inherently durable, and no widespread engine or transmission hardware failures have been reported. The 7-year vehicle warranty and 8-year hybrid/battery warranty provide significant protection for early owners. The main practical concern is the developing European dealer network, which can mean longer wait times for parts and fewer convenient service locations.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
ECU wiring harness clip (2025 petrol 1.6 TGDi models only, PHEV not affected) Not applicable
Takata airbag inflator replacement (check with manufacturer) Verify with VIN
The Jaecoo 7 is very new to the European market (launched late 2024). The major UK recall of 7,500 units in early 2026 affected only the 1.6 TGDi petrol version, not the SHS PHEV. Contact a Jaecoo dealer with the VIN to verify no open campaigns apply to your specific vehicle. As a new brand, recall processes may be less established than with major manufacturers.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (7 years / 160,000 km) Likely still active on all used examples
High-voltage battery (8 years / 160,000 km) Covers battery below 70% SOH
Hybrid system warranty (8 years) Covers electric motor, DHT, inverter
Rust perforation warranty (12 years) Body sheet metal panels
Paint warranty (3 years) Covers cracking, blistering, discoloration
Jaecoo offers one of the strongest warranty packages in the segment. The 7-year vehicle warranty transfers to subsequent owners as long as the service schedule has been maintained. The 8-year hybrid system and battery warranty provides significant peace of mind for PHEV-specific components. Jaecoo does not currently offer an extended warranty option beyond the factory coverage.
