The Charger Hellcat combined 707 hp with a four-door sedan body when it launched in 2015, making it the most powerful production sedan in the world at the time. Built on the LD platform with the supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 and ZF 8HP90 8-speed automatic, it delivers muscle car straight-line performance with genuine four-seat practicality. In Europe these are specialist imports through companies like AEC Europe rather than mainstream dealer stock, which affects parts availability and service access.· more· less

Common Problems
Strong engine, but supercharger system and consumables drive high running costs
The 6.2L supercharged HEMI is fundamentally a strong engine, and many Hellcats have exceeded 150,000 km without major powertrain failure. From 2017 onwards, the supercharger bearing problems that plagued early cars were largely resolved. The main ownership risks center around the supercharger system (bearings, intercooler pump), drivetrain components stressed by extreme torque (driveshaft, differential), and high consumable costs (brakes, tires). Interior quality is the other weak area, with door panel delamination and blend door actuator issues being common across all model years. In Europe, limited specialist access and US-sourced parts increase both cost and downtime. The ZF 8HP90 automatic transmission is generally reliable.

Pre-Purchase Inspection Checklist
General checks
Specific for this vehicle
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
Fuel rail crossover hose leak (2015 SRT with 6.2L, manufactured Sep 2014 - Feb 2015) Critical - verify completed
Engine oil cooler hose separation and fire risk (2017, manufactured Feb - May 2017) Critical - verify completed
Catalytic converter efficiency degradation (2015-2017, emissions recall V86) Verify completed
Takata airbag inflator (2015) Verify completed
Cruise control deactivation failure (2015-2018) Verify completed
Contact a Dodge/Stellantis dealer or AEC Europe importer with the VIN to verify all recalls have been completed. The fuel rail crossover hose (2015) and oil cooler hose (2017) recalls are particularly important as both carry fire risk. European-delivered cars may have different recall coverage.
Warranty Status
EU warranty (2 years via AEC importer) Expired on all used Hellcats
US factory warranty (3 years / 60,000 miles basic) Expired on most used imports
US powertrain warranty (5 years / 100,000 miles) May still apply on 2021+ US-spec cars
European-market Hellcats sold through AEC Europe carry a 2-year warranty. US-spec imports may retain residual powertrain warranty if under 5 years and 100,000 miles, but enforcing US warranty claims in Europe is difficult. Verify warranty status and transferability before purchase.
