Common Problems
Multiple engine weak points require vigilant maintenance
The E-Pace's 2.0 Ingenium diesel has well-documented timing chain, turbo, and DPF issues shared across the JLR range, but compounded on this model by an exhaust routing design that makes DPF regeneration harder. Pre-2019 builds are most affected by timing chain wear. The ZF 9HP transmission adds another potential failure point. With regular motorway driving, shortened oil change intervals (every 12,000-15,000 km rather than the factory 34,000 km), and prompt attention to warning signs, these risks can be managed. Short-trip urban use significantly increases failure likelihood across the drivetrain.
