A compact Japanese mini-SUV sold in Europe from 2006 until Daihatsu withdrew from the market in early 2013. Available in both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations, the Terios uses the Toyota-derived 3SZ-VE 1.5 engine producing 105 hp. It weighs around 1,150 kg and seats five in a surprisingly practical body. As an orphan brand in Europe, parts sourcing requires some effort but remains manageable through aftermarket suppliers and Toyota cross-compatibility.· more· less

Common Problems
Mechanically sound engine, but body corrosion is the main ownership risk
The Toyota-derived 3SZ-VE engine is fundamentally reliable, with a maintenance-free timing chain and many examples exceeding 200,000 km without major mechanical issues. The main ownership concern is body and exhaust corrosion, which is well documented across the Daihatsu range and can lead to expensive structural repairs or inspection failures. The 4WD drivetrain adds propshaft bearing wear as an additional concern. Since Daihatsu withdrew from Europe in 2013, there is no official dealer network, but most mechanical parts are shared with Toyota and widely available through aftermarket suppliers at reasonable prices. Body panels are harder to source and may need to come from breakers.

Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins
No European recall campaign was established as applicable to the Terios J200. Daihatsu withdrew from European new-car sales in 2013 but retained official service partners in several countries, so still take the VIN to a national Daihatsu representative or a Toyota dealer, because applicability is decided per VIN and national registers can differ.
Warranty Status
Factory warranty (3 years / 100,000 km) Expired on all Terios J200 models
Extended warranty Not available for a car of this age
Rust perforation warranty Expired on all models
All Terios J200 models are well outside their original factory warranty. Daihatsu ended European new-car sales in 2013 but retained some official service partners and parts supply arrangements. Most mechanical components are shared with Toyota, so servicing and mechanical spares remain straightforward through aftermarket suppliers. Body panels are increasingly sourced from breakers.
