The DS4 was Citroën's premium compact, positioned between the C4 hatchback and the larger DS5. Built on the C4 Mk2 platform with distinctive coupe-like styling, a fixed rear quarter window, and a higher equipment level, it offered French design flair at a moderate price. The 1.6 HDi DV6C diesel is a well-known PSA unit shared across dozens of models, delivering good fuel economy and adequate torque for daily use.· more· less

Common Problems
Known DV6 engine issues require preventive maintenance
The 1.6 HDi DV6C engine is not inherently unreliable, but it has several well-documented weak points that are largely preventable with proper maintenance. The turbo oil feed blockage is the most serious risk, but shortened oil change intervals and regular cleaning of the banjo bolt filter significantly reduce the likelihood. DPF and EGR issues are almost entirely driving-pattern dependent. Cars with complete service history, regular motorway use, and frequent oil changes can reach 200,000+ km without major problems. Cars with patchy maintenance or a history of short-trip driving are significantly more likely to need expensive repairs.
