The Chevrolet Spark M300 is a Korean-built city car sold across Europe from 2010 until Chevrolet withdrew from the European mainstream market at the end of 2015. The 1.2 B12D1 is a simple naturally aspirated four-cylinder with chain-driven timing and adequate performance for urban use. There is no ordinary Chevrolet dealer network left in Europe, so most routine servicing is done at independent garages, but Chevrolet Europe still refers owners to authorised repairers and service partners and supports outstanding recall work. Mechanical parts remain widely available through aftermarket suppliers and GM cross-references.· more· less

Very low purchase and running costs Simple chain-driven engine, no turbo
Only a thin authorised repairer network in Europe since 2015 PCV valve and ignition coil wear
Buy if: You want the cheapest possible city car to run and accept that Chevrolet's European support is now limited to a small authorised repairer network.
Avoid if: You need convenient dealer access for parts and service, or you want a car that holds its resale value.

Common Problems
Simple and cheap, but needs monitoring and forward planning on parts
The B12D1 engine is fundamentally simple: chain-driven timing, no turbo, port fuel injection. Most common issues are minor and inexpensive to fix when caught early. The main ownership challenge is Chevrolet's 2015 withdrawal from Europe. While mechanical and wear parts remain available through aftermarket suppliers and GM cross-references, some body panels and unique trim pieces are becoming progressively harder to source. Budget-conscious owners who monitor oil levels, address ignition misfires promptly, and plan parts sourcing ahead of time will find the Spark one of the cheapest cars to keep running.

Warranty Status
Factory warranty (3 years) Expired on all Spark M300 models
Extended warranty Not available (Chevrolet left the European mainstream market in 2015)
Rust perforation warranty (6 years) Expired on all models
All Chevrolet Spark M300 models are well outside their original 3-year factory warranty, which on UK cars was also capped at 60,000 miles. No manufacturer-backed extended warranty is available because Chevrolet left the European mainstream market in 2015, although Chevrolet Europe still refers owners to authorised repairers for service and recall work. Third-party warranty providers may offer coverage but often exclude cars above a certain age.
